We’re looking forward as we always do to spring and summer in Weymouth & Portland. There’s always something going on. Here’s three highlights.
Crabchurch 2018
History lovers have a treat in March when once again Weymouth celebrates “Crabchurch 2018” over the weekend, 2nd, 3rd and 4th March.
The Crabchurch Conspiracy occurred in 1645, during the English Civil War, when several royalist plotters within the twin towns of Weymouth and Melcombe conspired to deliver the ports back into the control of Charles I.
The weekend will feature The Crabchurch History Talks with Professor Ronald Hutton, and Kit Berry, author of the acclaimed Stonewylde series, who will be talking about writing a new novel set on our very own Portland during the time of the Crabchurch Conspiracy.
On Saturday 3rd March there will be costumed re-enactments at The Tudor House in Weymouth and again on Sunday at the Old Town Hall, Weymouth. On Saturday evening Celtic rock band, The Dolmen will perform their album, The Crabchurch Conspiracy live on stage. A musical journey through the events which happened in Weymouth 372 years ago.

Dorset Comicon and Gaming Festival 2018
The Dorset Comicon and Gaming Festival is being held in the two large sports halls at the Redlands community hub in Weymouth. There have been some very positive reviews for this new event for the area.

Osprey Sprint Triathlon
There’s still time to enter the Osprey Sprint Triathlon taking place on April 8th. This Swim, bike and run race starts with a pool swim and the bike section covers Portland right to the Bill with the final run along the Weymouth to Portland beach road.
