Lilac Cottage is a cosy Victorian cottage which sleeps four and offers a truly home from home experience. The cottage is situated in Wakeham, not far from the Portland Museum and stunning walks to Church Ope Cove and Portland Bill ….

Lilac Cottage has long been a favourite destination for visitors to the Island and enjoys all the amenities that come with a three star enjoyEngland grading .… there is on street parking and a bus service to Weymouth nearby. Just a few minutes walk along the historic wide street of Wakeham and you arrive at Easton with a good selection of shops, pubs and restaurants.

Lilac Cottage's lounge has a special charm of its own .… with an original antique Victorian fireplace (no open fires) and seating for four. There is TV (Freeview channels from April 09), DVD and radio/CD player and the property is fully centrally heated.

Through a pine door from the diner - the kitchen provides all the essentials you could need…. gas oven and hob, microwave, fridge, coffee maker, kettle, toaster, pots, pans, utensils et al ….

Next door…. we arrive at the dining room which has a gate leg dining table with seating for four and an old writing bureau. In the understairs cupboard there are plenty of games for kids and a hoover in case it rains. (Sorry, it's an old Lilac joke!)

Once up the fairly steep stairs .… there are two double-bedded rooms.

In the larger bedroom there are two full sized pine beds with a vanity unit, hanging space and chest of drawers. All beds are provided with duvets and pillows - guests are asked to bring their own duvet covers/sheets, pillowcases and towels. (If travelling by rail or air then linen and towels can be hired subject to negotiation).

The smaller bedroom features two full sized beds - with the second bed easily stored under the first if required (as shown).

Beds are supplied with duvets and pillows and there is a small cupboard…. And a glimpse of the sea!

Finally at the end of the corridor - the well-appointed bathroom. With bath, shower, toilet and heated towel rail.

There are just a few more surprises at Lilac Cottage .… an outside loo is pretty unusual these days but dare we say it …. really convenient!

…. and the secure walled courtyard garden with table and chairs for alfresco dining might not seem surprising .…

…. but if you've had enough of exploring Portland, then you can always just lose yourself in Lilac's other - secret garden!
