“Casita del Mar”, as its name suggests, is indeed a “cottage by the sea”, situated at the bottom of hilly Mallams, and joins the website with a four star enjoyEngland grading. The property was built around 150 years ago and has recently been refurbished in a mix of contemporary and vintage style to provide accommodation for six in three bedrooms.

Casita del Mar enjoys on street parking nearby (plus a parking permit for key sites on Portland and Weymouth as well as near the property) and is well served by bus routes to Portland Bill and Weymouth and a local taxi service.

The Weymouth and Portland Sailing Academy, Ferrybridge windsurfing sites and Dive Centres are all close by as are a good selection of shops, pubs, restaurants and takeaways to suit all tastes.

Just turn left outside the front door and a short walk down the hill brings you to the village of Chiswell, stunning rocky coves and the pebbles of Chesil Beach ....

Casita del Mar offers a superb fusion of shabby chic and cutting edge design and always with comfort a priority …. from the small entrance lobby you enter the Portland Stone walled lounge with seating for six on leather sofas and a wood burner stove for winter (logs supplied from October to March). There is a TV with Freeview channels, DVD player and a radio/CD.

The property enjoys full central heating (included in the price) and guests can look forward to a Surprise Welcome Pack.

Leading off from the lounge …. you enter the dining room with pine table and chairs. There are shelves of books and DVD's for adults and children and a vintage china tea service just in case the Queen pops by. A travel cot and high chair are available and also a stair gate if needed.

Around the corner you are greeted with a stylish modern kitchen …. with huge inventory. Just check this lot out…. gas hob, electric oven, fridge/freezer with water cooler, microwave cooker, Cafetiere, kettle, toaster, Smoothie Maker and a washing machine.

Beyond the kitchen we find a contemporary modern bathroom ....
with bath and shower, basin and toilet.
It's all white too!

The courtyard garden leads off from the kitchen …. and provides ample alfresco dining for six on vintage furniture recovered from Belgium (you'll notice a few chips on it!)

And finally up a few stairs another unexpected, secret terrace, almost Aegean in style, with stone seats - and hopefully, Portland's stunning blue sky!

Leading upstairs from the entrance lobby …. we get to a first floor landing with two bedrooms. Towels are available at a nominal fee. Linen is provided for all beds and heating is included in the cost of your stay.

The master bedroom with its painted pine floor .... has a sturdy classic iron double bed with really comfortable mattress complete with duvet, pillows and cotton linen. Everything in the room including the vanity unit and mirrors are vintage and there's plenty of hanging and drawer space.

Across the corridor…. is a bright and airy twin bedded room with a great view and even a glimpse of the sea. The beds are full size, suitable for adults or children of any age and there's plenty of storage and hanging space

One last set of steep stairs (and tall folk mind you duck!) …. and the final twin bedded room reveals itself as a contemporary, minimalist style with painted floors and really comfortable beds. And a glimpse of the sea!

Casita del Mar ~ promises an unforgettable experience with vintage touches everywhere ~ but also the comfort and practicality of the new.
