Anchor Cottage enjoys a stunning location …. being about a mile from Portland Bill and just half a mile from both Blacknor on the Island's rugged west coast and Church Ope Cove on the east. This well appointed cottage provides spacious accommodation for five and enjoys a four star enjoyEngland grading.

Anchor Cottage is full of surprises …. had you arrived here in the early 1800's you'd probably be calling in for a pint at The Rifleman …. but no problem because today, there are pubs, restaurants, shops and takeaways in easy walking distance.

There is parking in the drive for two cars and a large secure store (useable in 2009, as .… still clearing out old beer bottles!).

At the front of the cottage …. we find a large entrance lobby which looks out on to the front garden where you can also take a pew in the sun trap to enjoy uninterrupted views to the South - and...a locally dived anchor!

Anchor Cottage is a real home from home …. offering comfy seating for five, full central heating, with a gas stove set in the old stone fireplace. The entire cottage is built with wooden deck beams, recovered long ago, in err… true Portland tradition. There is also TV with Freeview, DVD player and games, books and even some DVDs.

Dining, in this large open plan layout, is no less impressive with a fine dining table with seating for six .

Kitchen

The kitchen provides everything you could need …. electric oven, gas hob, washer drier, small dishwasher, microwave, fridge, freezer, coffee maker, kettle, toaster, radio/CD player, pots, pans, utensils and of course a bottle opener (traditions!). Leading off from the kitchen is the huge garden with outdoor seating and BBQ.


Still on the ground floor, we find the high ceilinged family bathroom - tastefully appointed and with a good sized shower.

Arriving at the top of the stairs …. guests can choose from the beautiful wood-beamed master bedroom with full size double bed and distant sea views (no need to stand on a chair!) or the equally stylish twin bedded room. Bed linen, towels, duvets and pillows are provided for all rooms. There is also ample wardrobe space.

The wood-beamed third bedroom overlooks the rear garden …. and has a single bed and cupboard. Space too, for a travel cot if requested. A baby seat and portable stair gate can also be provided if needed.
